The Slaves of New York
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Chimera Press (1999)
Author: Susanna Hughes
Average review score:

A book of special dreams for doms and subs ...
Even the most erotic book can become boring and repetitive if it doesn't have some kind of story to hold it together. Susanna Hughes, the auther, certainly manges this very aptly while dealing with a very very difficult erotic topic, female submission ....

In this book, Kim, comes to NY from the UK to find and interview Jake Ashley, a dominant master of both men and women that have an erotic fixation of wanting to be dominated. Kim, is no shrinking violet and has no trouble in exploring those submissive erotic dreams that she has had in order to get into the story, or I guess for the story to get into her ...

The author manages to gently take Kim down that slippery slope of eroticism as Kim step by step succumbs to delicious surrender. It's at the point that the heroine has been bound, spnaked, etc etc that most books fall appart and usually end as pure sadistic work, this book does not fall into that trap, the author manages to keep our interest, purient and intellectual ...

Yes it's very hard to find an erotic sumbission book where the auther doesn't loose her cool and continues to respect the reader right to the very end. Well done Suzzanne thank you ......

Soccer Tactics and Teamwork
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publications (September, 1988)
Author: Charles F.C. Hughes
Average review score:

Old, but good
This book was first published in 1973, but remarkably little has changed from a technical or tactical standpoint in the time between now and then. This book provides the basis and terminology for all of the USSF licensing courses (yes, we copied the English). Another benefit is that it contains very clear diagrams of both correct and incorrect positions (placed side by side for comparison) in areas of discussion which include, but are not limited to: creating space, support in attack, passing, shooting, defending and attacking at set pieces, and goalkeeping. The book does include some activities for use in training sessions, but if you are looking for a drill book, this is not the one to buy. Having said that, however, I highly recommend this book, as it is an excellent primer and resource on coaching tactics. It is written in such a way as to be applicable to any team that plays 11 a side (although many of the concepts are applicable to any team because they are emphasized in a small sided setting such as 2 v. 1), and can be understood easily by any coach from novice to expert.

Sought by Grace
Published in Paperback by Moody Publishers (March, 2002)
Author: R. Kent Hughes
Average review score:

Clear, Understandable, and Moving
This book is a wonderfully clear, precise, and compassionate look at the grace of God and His love for mankind. Hughes draws the reader into the lives of real people from the New Testament, allowing the reader to experience the grace of God through their eyes. For those who have never heard the message of the Gospel clearly, this is a wonderful source. For those Christians who need a reminder of the greatness of the Lord they serve, again this is the right source. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking a fresh look at the truth, grace, and love of God and His work of redemption through Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Masters: Living a Life of Prayer in the Catholic Tradition
Published in Paperback by Our Sunday Visitor (September, 1998)
Author: Alfred C. Hughes
Average review score:

Great overview of holy men & women who have formed the faith
Bishop Hughes presents the spiritual history of the church through the lives of its leaders. Each chapter foucuses on a different spiritual master and includes a brief biography, the context of their life and teaching within the church and the world, and how they influenced the spiritual growth of the church. Both educational and personally challenging -- highly recommended.

Star Trek: Debt of Honor
Published in Paperback by Simon & Schuster (December, 1992)
Authors: Christopher S. Claremont, Adam, Hughes, Story Karl C., Chris Claremont, Bob Greenberger, and Karl Story
Average review score:

Claremont's Best Comic book work ever.
Chris's best comic book story ever was not the X-Men, but with Star Trek; Debt of Honor. It is a sequal to the fourth Star Trek movie, but it also covers the 25 years of Trek history that featured the original Trek crew. Federation, Klingons, and Romulans must put aside their differences to stop one of the galaxy's most sinister theats. Great reading for long time Trek fans like myself and I hope newer Trek fans check it out as well.

Stories and Fun for the Very Young
Published in School & Library Binding by Candlewick Press (October, 1998)
Authors: Books Candlewick, Shirley Hughes, and Iona Opie
Average review score:

Of all her books, THIS is the one she always wants!
My 1-1/2 old granddaughter has many books - and she is often to be seen looking at books by herself, not to speak of the times she requests an adult to sit with her. This is the book that she most often wants and is the book we'll have to replace as it's the most worn. A great collection of "nursery" poetry and pictures have a lot of appeal for the young.

Stories by Firelight
Published in Paperback by Random House Children's Books (A Division of Random House Group) (16 September, 1993)
Author: Shirley Hughes
Average review score:

a must read
As always, Shirley Hughes has a winner with her book, Stories by Firelight. The stories are fascinating, with just a bit of eerieness and fantasy to keep children interested, just like a tale told by firelight. Burning the Tree is a delightful tale about a grandfather and a grandson who has an uncomfortable secret which has quite an exhilorating resolution for the boy. As with many of her books, there are lovely poems interspersed which just add to the joy of reading a Shirley Hughes book.

Stories for Eight Year Olds

Stories for Eight-Year-Olds--Enchanting
This is a wonderful collection of classic stories -- ranging from Pegasus to Ali Baba and the 40 thieves to the Oriental tale: the Crocodile and the Monkey. My daughter, eight, was thoroughly enchanted and even my son, 11, enjoyed reading the book. Stories for Eight-Year-Olds will indeed charm and fascinate both your eight-year old as well as any younger or older readers in the family, too. I look forward to buying the next volume edited by Sara and Stephen Corrin, Stories for Nine-Year-Olds.

Well written, age appropriate stories!
I thought my four year old daughter would be much too advanced for this book, but found it to be very age appropriate, well written, and entertaining for both me and my daughter (even after reading it sixteen times!). Well done. A birthday is coming; I will progress to the next book in the set.
